Convincing victory in game 3 of the first playoff series against Jokipojat. Game ended 5-1 after great play by the salmons of Vantaa. Kiekko-Vantaa now leads the series 3-0. The next game is away on Monday and it is make it or break it for Jokipojat.

It seemed like a mountain to climb but in the end Kiekko-Vantaa managed to hammer in the goals needed for the win in game 1 of the first playoff round against Jokipojat. The game ended 3-1 in front of 652 spectators.

Regular season ended in a tight no goal game in front of 1047 spectators. The winner was decided in a six round shootout by Oskari Lehtinen for Jokipojat. Kiekko-Vantaa finished the season in 3rd place and can rest before the playoffs start on Wednesday with a home game against the team in the 6th place.

The game was a thriller even though the scoreline would suggest something else. Jokipojat started strong scoring twice in the first period. Kiekko-Vantaa was stronger in the second period after beating couple penalty kills in the beginning of the period. Kiekko-Vantaa scored in powerplay evening the scales. However they were robbed by the game official when Jokipojat scored after the puck had been out of bounce in the end of the 2nd period. How none of the four official noticed the situation leading to the goal is beyond comprehension. The 4-1 goal was made by last seasons salmon hero Nico Friman in the third period sealing the deal for Jokipojat.

Kiekko-Vantaa welcomed Jokipojat from Joensuu to Trio Areena for the second time this season. Jokipojat won the previous battle in a tight OT match. This time Kiekko-Vantaa was the stronger team. First to score early in the game was the team Captain Toni Leinonen who also assisted the Kiekko-Vantaa’s second goal. The game followed a pattern where Kiekko-Vantaa would score and Jokipojat then equalise the score until the last period when Kiekko-Vantaa managed to take a 2 goal lead late in the game. Jokipojat managed to score, but were forced to take their goalie out few minutes before the end. Janne Juutinen scored to an empty net finalising the score to 6-4 for the home team.
